Abstract

The aim of this paper is to review circulating prediction biomarkers of preeclampsia (PE). A series of circulating factors that correlated with pathophysiology of PE have been regarded contributed to the mechanism of the disease. There is a need for effective biomarkers of high quality for early diagnosis or monitoring. To date, several candidates, such as PlGF and sFlt1, and PP13, seem presently to have better predictive values for PE, but sensitivity and specificity is still too low to prove useful in a population screening setting. Biomarker testing should still be part of research protocols. There is still a lot to do before the ultimate goal achieved.
